Dr. Bender's clinical expertise is in the biology and pathology of pediatric cancers, sickle cell disease, and hemoglobinopathies.
Treating sickle cell disease entails integrating leading-edge molecular biology and cell biology, and confronting issues of access to healthcare and community education in an underserved population. The hallmarks of my patient care philosophy are listening to and trusting patients, education on how to live the healthiest life possible, and working with a multi-disciplinary team to overcome barriers to receiving optimal care.
