Why did you choose your specialty?
As a medical oncologist who specializes in treating people with gastrointestinal cancers, I’m excited by the progress that has been made in cancer research and I’m hopeful that much more will be done in discovering new treatments and improving survival in patients with GI cancers. After my medical oncology fellowship, I did a second fellowship in developmental therapeutics, where I was involved in early-phase clinical trials studying a new molecular target in colon cancer and testing a new drug in tumor models. I’m also a UW assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Oncology.
