Jessica Leibelt, ARNP
I was placed on a medical oncology floor during clinical rotations and ended up really liking it. I have stayed all these years because oncology is very humbling, but also encouraging. A diagnosis of cancer can happen to anybody, and you learn that there is so much it can’t take away — you find out what’s really important. Difficult things happen in people’s lives, and it makes you a little bit softer toward family, friends and even strangers. You just never know what other people are going through and the brave face they may be putting on.
I always strive to be straightforward with patients, and with people in general, and meet them where they are. As providers, we often need to read the room quickly and figure out where the person is in terms of understanding their diagnosis and condition. We meet people of all backgrounds and levels of medical knowledge, and you never know what you are going to see. I think it’s important for everyone to feel safe and heard.

Medical Oncology
I am an advanced registered nurse practitioner who sees patients at the Peninsula clinic.
Patients are equal partners in their care, and I want them to feel like they are in the driver’s seat. We are all fighting a lot of the same battles, and we’re in this process together.
Our mission is to provide patients with the highest quality, personalized care closer to home. As part of Fred Hutch, our community oncologists offer patients multidisciplinary tumor board opinions, clinical trials and expertise in treating a variety of cancers.

Clinical trials
We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch doctors. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your doctor can decide if a study is right for you.
