Dr. Nina Mayr is a professor and the chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington. Dr. Mayr specializes in the treatment of women's cancers, lung cancer, neuro-oncology, and tumor imaging.

Nina A. Mayr, MD, joined the University of Washington as a professor and the chair of the department of radiation oncology in June of 2013. She was previously a professor at Ohio State University and a member of the Ohio State University NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Experimental Therapeutics Program.
Dr. Mayr earned her medical degree at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, Germany and completed her residency and fellowship in breast and gynecologic radiation oncology at the University of Iowa in 1993 where she served on the faculty for eight years.
Before she created the department of radiation medicine at Ohio State University and served as its inaugural chair from 2004 to 2008, Dr. Mayr was director of radiation oncology and professor and vice chair of radiological sciences at Oklahoma University (OU) Health Sciences Center, where she built OU’s new radiation oncology facility.
Dr. Mayr specializes in tumor imaging, lung cancer, women’s cancers, and neuro-oncology. She has been awarded two National Institutes of Health (NIH) RO1 grants for the study of functional/molecular imaging as a predictor of cancer treatment outcome. She serves in numerous capacities in professional societies in her field, has been awarded the Fellowship by the American Society of Radiation Oncology in 2011, and has been an elected Fellow of the American Association of the Advancement of Science since 2006.
