A Sense of Community
Patients and families who stay at SCCA House are able to meet others in similar circumstances, attend support groups and classes, enjoy community gatherings, and feel safe in a unfamiliar city. Read what some of our guests have said.
The house has made my battle with cancer easier. The friendly staff, affordable rooms, and excellent amenities really provide a home away from home for my family and I. I'm grateful that the SCCA House is here to make the difficult time a bit better. It's wonderful. Everything is high quality, the rooms are quiet and restful, and it's an excellent value for the price. The shuttle service is helpful, and the staff are always courteous and accommodating.

The staff is outstanding-friendly and helpful- they go above and beyond to make a stay pleasant and comfortable. The shuttle service to the clinic and hospital is great. Not needing to worry about parking and door to door service is very nice. "Living space" with computer access - with printing and scanning and fax, was great.
~ Grace Loving
SCCA House has a wonderful, people-frioendly staff. They are always willing to accommodate us if they can. As I am from a small town, I feel SCCA is as friendly as a small town.
~ Brenda Bosch
The SCCA House provided us with a clean, safe, and pleasant place to stay. All of our needs were met and we were able to "settle in" our very first day. The conveniences offered at SCCA House are so valuable to patients. Everything from the shuttle service to the fully equipped rooms and kitchen and laundry room made our stay so much easier and enables us to focus on our "work" at the clinic.
~ Gerald and Mary Pat Smith
The sense of community really makes SCCA House more comfortable than anywhere else. You don’t have to explain to people that you have cancer. It makes you feel like you don’t have cancer. It makes you feel like you’re just like everybody else.
~ Ty Wakefield
From the moment the doors slide open and I walk in to a friendly, “Hello, can I help you,” I feel special.
I can’t believe a facility team, patients and an architect designed a home with patients and family totally in mind. It’s not just 4 walls with a bed. It’s a home where I have a bedroom which I can leave and walk to a fantastic kitchen and dining area. Or go to the lounge area to relax, read, do puzzles, make new friends, or simply stare out the enormous walls of windows to get use to a massive city, or simply sit in the warmth of the sun.
Kind of feels like home. The shape of the building seems to wrap its arms around you to say, “I’ll take care of you while your here.” It makes you feel positive to be here for your care.

SCCA House is a calm sea in the middle of a hurricane. We came here after our daughter was flown by fixed wing over 300 miles away. SCCA House offers us a clean place to stay with friendly and compassionate staff. Thank you SCCA House. We could not have done this past month 300 miles away from home.
~ Cara Renkert
Very clean facility, friendly and helpful staff, conveniently located. We’ve been here four times and would stay here again over any other place in Seattle.
Yes. I would say it’s just like a home I would imagine for myself. I was impressed
to see all the supplies in the communal kitchen: coffee pot, toaster, and it is an excellent place to walk into.
~ James O’Field
Clearly, the SCCA House is another key to successful treatment. Calm, soothing
environment with as many "creature comforts” as might be needed during treatment. A way to continue “living with treatment.” What a wonderful support! Thank you!
~ Alison Vernon
How helpful everyone has been in assisting us with maps and information and accommodating our special needs! You took a huge burden of being lost and a little scared and helped us to relax and make it to our appointments on time.
~ Shelia James & Angela Stanton
It is so convenient, and every staff member so kind. It is one big less worry to deal with while in treatment. A marvelous, well-run, clean, friendly home away from home.
~ Jeannette Gregg
Great staff, conveniently located, nice quiet neighborhood, great shuttle service to SCCA, UW Medical Center and grocery store run. You will enjoy your stay here. A very helpful staff.
It’s the perfect home away from home, relaxing and comfortable accommodations.
~ Phillip Ramirez
Amazing support for a difficult time. Peaceful, encouraging, positive atmosphere and approach.
I would highly recommend it. I’ve stayed here twice, now. It’s been great both times.
~ Wes Spears
Guests have everything they could need: very clean accommodations, cooking facilities, laundry, shuttle service to SCCA and groceries, parking, sharing journey with fellow patients, and visiting family members.
Yes, we would say, do not hesitate in your decision on where to stay. The SCCA House is a wonderful facility. The thoughtfulness that was put into building this facility is beyond words. Friendly and helpful staff, great facility, clean, quiet, and love the kitchen! The shuttle buses are so helpful. Great location—close to places to eat, Space Needle, and all within walking distance. It is so much more than what we expected! The Resource Room and sitting area are wonderful!

All the details at SCCA House have been considered and each has been tailored to meet the needs of patients and their families and caregivers. As with everything at SCCA, the standard is excellence with continued improvement. I found the charts describing what is compostable/recyclable or garbage to be most helpful. The SCCA House is not a hotel; it is a living space and all the details are taken care of.

This is a place where everyone is a team. The front desk people will try to do everything, including just listening to make your day a better one. You will not regret your choice. This is a place to relax and stay strong.
If you are looking for a place of quiet, fellowship and respite, this is the place for you. Everything here, from staff to amenities, is there to facilitate and to cater to your needs. You will never regret this choice.
