Bone marrow The soft, spongy material in the center of your bones that produces all your blood cells, such as white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. Bone marrow transplant The process of treating disease with high doses of chemotherapy, radiation therapy or both. Bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cells are given after treatment to help the body make more blood cells. The process of treating disease with high doses of chemotherapy, radiation therapy or both. Because this treatment destroys the bone marrow’s ability to produce blood cells, bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cells are given after treatment to help the body make more blood cells. Stem cell A cell from which other types of cells develop. For example, blood cells develop from blood-forming stem cells.
EpicCare Link for referring physicians

Our relationships with referring physicians do not end at the point of referral. It is our intention that most patients return to the referring physician's care after consultation. We are committed to maintaining communications with referring physicians and will do everything we can to encourage ongoing connection to the patient's care.

EpicCare Link is a web application that allows providers at other organizations to view their patients’ clinical data from the Fred Hutch Epic system through the internet. Clinicians who refer patients to Fred Hutch may check on those referrals by accessing their patients’ charts. Clinicians who receive referrals from Fred Hutch also benefit from quick access to the patient’s charts. Any external user with read-only access to patient records will have their access automatically transitioned to EpicCare Link. Providers should use EpicCare Link to access records generated after March 27, 2021.

Learn more about EpicCare Link on the UW Medicine website. You can also contact eclinkhelp@uw.edu for more information.
