Cancer Care Matters
Be sure your plan covers Washington’s top-ranked cancer care
Check if your health plan covers Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) — and make sure you have access to one of the top five cancer care hospitals in the nation.
I already have health insurance
Now’s a good time to check what your plan covers. Deductibles and co-payments will likely be lower if SCCA is in your network.

I am shopping for a health plan
Before you choose a health plan, make sure it covers SCCA so you and your family are ensured the best possible cancer care. Open Enrollment for the Washington Health Benefit Exchange begins November 1, 2018, and the deadline is December 15, 2018, for January 1, 2019, coverage.
Who is Seattle Cancer Care Alliance?
Seattle Cancer Care Alliance brings together the leading research teams and cancer specialists of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and UW Medicine to translate scientific discovery into the prevention, treatment and cure of cancer. We transform groundbreaking research ideas into lifesaving realities for cancer patients, improving the standard of care regionally and beyond.
What if my current health plan doesn’t cover SCCA?
We want all cancer patients to have access to the best possible care and outcomes. Deductibles and co-payments will likely be higher if SCCA is not in your health plan’s network. Depending on where you get your health insurance, you will have the opportunity to evaluate and choose health insurance plans during an Open Enrollment period. Check with your health insurance source (for example, your employer) for the dates when your Open Enrollment period takes place and consider choosing a plan that covers SCCA.
What if I’m uninsured?
If you don’t have insurance and are seeking treatment at SCCA, a financial counselor can work with you to find out if you qualify for financial assistance or Medicaid, a jointly funded, federal/state health-insurance program for low-income people.
SCCA directs patients without insurance to their state-specific Health Care Exchange. Washington residents can use Washington HealthPlanFinder to choose a plan based on cost, coverage, convenience, or any other factors that are important to you. Under the federal Affordable Care Act, insurance companies cannot deny coverage to people with existing conditions.
How is SCCA different?
