SEATTLE – (July 13, 2017) –The August 2017 issue of Seattle Met features 66 Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) doctors, physician assistants and nurse practitioners on its annual Top Doctors list.
SEATTLE – (July 7, 2017) – Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) announced today that 11 of its nurse researcher leaders will present at the International Conference on Cancer Nursing (ICCN) July 9-12, 2017 in Anaheim, CA. This is the largest number of nurse researchers invited to present at ICCN in SCCA’s history. Research topic areas of focus that include immunotherapy, patient safety, staffing models, global health and ethics, appear below.
SEATTLE – (June 26, 2017) – Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) announced today that the American Academy of Nursing has selected Kathleen Shannon Dorcy, PhD, RN, Director, Clinical Nursing Research, Education and Practice, as an Academy Fellow. This is the first time in SCCA’s history that a nurse has achieved Fellow – American Academy of Nursing status, or FAAN.
SEATTLE – (May 8, 2017) – Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Immediate Past Chairman and member of the Board of Directors Carl Behnke received a “Laureate” award from the Washington state chapter of Junior Achievement. The award was presented to Behnke at the organization’s Puget Sound Business Hall of Fame event, held at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront on May 4.
SEATTLE – (May 4, 2017) – Today’s issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Oncology features a viewpoint co-authored by Dr. Christoph Lee, a Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) radiologist who conducts breast cancer outcomes research. The JAMA article addresses whether machine learning (or coding) can help reduce false positives from mammography screening.
SEATTLE – (April 17, 2017) – Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) is thrilled to welcome Dr. Theresa M. McDonnell as the Alliance’s new Chief Nurse Executive, Vice President of Clinical Operations. She will be responsible for overseeing all nursing staff, guiding patient care delivery, ensuring staff accountability for providing a patient-centered clinical practice environment, and overseeing general clinical quality and patient safety.
SEATTLE – (March 3, 2017) – Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Executive Vice President Norman (“Norm”) E. Hubbard received a gold “Outstanding Medical Center Executive - Seattle” award from Seattle Business magazine. The award was presented to Hubbard at the magazine’s eighth annual Health Care Leader awards event, held in Seattle at Bell Harbor Convention Center on March 2.

SEATTLE – (Feb. 21, 2017) – Seattle Cancer Care Alliance partnered with Washington Aisles Alliance, a consortium of local grocery retailers, manufacturers, product representatives and distributors for an inaugural Game Changer fundraising event in January. More than 300 people attended the event, raising $360,750 for Fred Hutch, Seattle Children’s and UW Medicine through Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
