Parking

Patients and their visitors may park in either of the South Lake Union Clinics underground parking garages. If you have questions about our valet parking see the Valet Parking FAQ below.

Building 1 underground self-parking

  • Valet parking is optional for all patients and families in Building 1.
  • Parking fees are pro-rated for shorter visits to the clinic.
  • The maximum parking fee is $4 per day.
  • The parking garage is free on the weekends.

Building 2 underground automated parking. Automated parking systems are structures where cars are stacked vertically to make the most efficient use of space. Drivers take their cars to the entrance of the parking garage and all occupants exit the vehicle. From there, the vehicle is moved by a mechanical system to an available space where it is automatically parked. You can see a video of how this system works at the bottom of our Building 2 page.

  • Valet parking is required for the automated parking.
  • The parking fee is a flat rate of $4.
  • If you would prefer to self-park, you may do so in the Building 1 garage.

Metered street parking is also available in the area, which is free after 6 pm, Monday through Saturday, and all day Sunday.

The South Lake Union Clinic and the UW Medical Center - Montlake garages (Surgery Pavilion and Triangle) offer same-day reciprocal parking. Bring your receipt from a participating garage to your next appointment that day and it will be honored.

Bike parking

You can park your bicycle on Level A of the Building 1 parking garage and by the front entrance of the clinic. Remember to bring a lock to secure your bike.

Valet Parking Frequently Asked Questions

Patients requested an easier parking experience, and we listened! To help improve your parking experience, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center partnered with Prime Parking Systems, an experienced, contracted valet company, to offer a valet parking for Clinic Buildings 1 and 2 in South Lake Union.

Is valet parking required?

Valet parking is optional for all patients and families in Building 1, and is required for automated parking in Building 2. If you would prefer to self-park, you may do so in the Building 1 garage. For those who use valet parking, all of our attendants will be following Fred Hutch’s strict infection prevention policies.

How do I use valet parking?

Arrival:

Drop your car off in either clinic parking garage in the clearly designated valet area. For Building 1, this is on Aloha Street and Building 2, Yale Avenue N. An attendant will take your car keys, attach a numbered key fob and give you a corresponding valet ticket. The ticket must be given to an attendant to receive your keys back at the end of your visit, so please keep your ticket with you.

Departure:

Please pay for parking and pick up your vehicle in the same building in which you parked.

  • Building 1: You will pay at the valet station or kiosk that is located on floor 1 near the main doors. You will give the attendant your valet ticket or scan at the kiosk and pay the parking fee. They will bring your car to the valet pick-up area.
  • Building 2: You will pay at the kiosk stations located on Floor A or Floor 1 then provide the ticket to the valet in Floor A. The valet will retrieve your vehicle.

After hours pick-up

  • Building 1: Keys that are not picked up in Building 1 by 6 p.m. will be at the security desk on the main floor, which is open 24 hours. Once you present the valet ticket, you will receive your keys and a security officer will guide you to your car on level B of the parking garage. For Building 1, you will pay the booth attendant in the garage until 8 p.m. After 8 p.m., parking is complimentary.
  • Building 2: Payment will occur at the kiosk stations located on Floor A or Floor 1 of building 2.  Present your ticket to the valet located on Floor A and the valet attendant will retrieve the vehicle for you and pull it up to the doors leading to the garage.

What if I lose my valet ticket?

If a valet ticket is lost, you will be asked to complete a lost ticket form and provide proof of identity to validate vehicle ownership with the registration. Any lost tickets will incur the full rate for parking of $4.

Will I pay more for valet parking?

No, parking fees remain the same whether you self-park or use valet parking.

What are the valet parking hours of operation?

Valet is offered on weekdays only. In Building 1, the valet hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., subject to change. For Building 2, hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., subject to change.

Should I tip?

Please do not tip, as the Fred Hutch policy doesn’t allow our workforce to accept cash or cash equivalents (gift cards, cashier’s checks, etc.) regardless of value.
