Volunteer Opportunities
Store/Gift Shop Volunteers
provide efficient and courteous service to customers and help support our retail operations. Rain or Shine gift shop is located in the SCCA outpatient clinic. Shine retail store featuring specialty products for cancer patients is located at the SCCA House. Urgent need.
Cosmetology/Barber Volunteers
provide compassionate, caring and hygienic head shaves and head massages to customers seeking assistance with hair loss. These services will be offered at Shine retail store, which opened in September at the SCCA House located at 1216 John Street. Must possess a valid Washington State Cosmetology license. Urgent need.
Volunteer Drivers
provide transportation from and to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Boeing Field for Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) patients and their primary caregivers. Volunteer Drivers use their own vehicle for arrivals and departures. Drivers are needed at various times throughout the week. Urgent need.
Healing Music Volunteers
provide soothing and comforting music to patients, caregivers, staff and volunteers in our outpatient setting, primarily in waiting/reception areas. Please see specific application for musicians. Weekday/daytime availability. Urgent need.
Child Life Volunteers
offer diversionary activities and companionship for pediatric patients and patients’ family members (ages 0-18yrs). Activities include crafts, games, storytelling, watching videos, and being a friendly face. Weekday/daytime availability.
Event Committee Volunteers
provide a more positive experience to patients and caregivers at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance by offering social and diversionary activities monthly at the Pete Gross House and SCCA House. Evening availability.
General Oncology/Hematology Lobby Volunteers
provide service to the patients and family members waiting to be seen in the 4th floor General Oncology/Hematology clinic. Volunteers interested in this role will first be assigned to the Women’s Center Lobby and then transition to the General Oncology/Hematology Lobby after approximately 3-4 months. Weekday/daytime availability.
Guest Services Volunteers
provide a welcoming presence, information about Seattle, and assist patients and visitors in the SCCA Clinic. Weekday/daytime availability.
Massage Therapy Volunteers
provide comfort hand massages to our patients and caregivers in the outpatient clinic (must be licensed massage therapists and insured). Weekday/daytime availability.
Patient Education Volunteers
provide information and social support for oncology patients and families at SCCA. Volunteers work in the Patient and Family Resource Center and the patient education department.
Patient/Family Volunteers
provide practical assistance, social and emotional support for families of oncology patients who are receiving medical care at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA). They enable family members to cope with the challenges of caring for a critically ill person. Typically, volunteers assist families who are from outside of western Washington. We are currently not recruiting for this role at this time.
Patient and Family Resource Center Volunteers
provide assistance to staff with special projects and assists patients and caregivers in the Patient and Family Resource Center.
Physical Therapy Volunteers
assist the Physical Therapist and the department by supporting patients undergoing treatment at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (limited opportunities).
SCCA House Kitchen Host Volunteers
provide efficient and courteous service to SCCA House residents, specifically in the community kitchen, by keeping the community pantry organized and assisting groups that provide a community meal to the residents. One or two evenings a month (limited opportunities).
Volunteer Labyrinth Hosts
provide a welcoming presence, information, and brief instruction to all inquirers and walkers for the bi-monthly open labyrinth walk at the SCCA. Weekday/daytime availability.
Volunteer Wig Fitters
assist patients during wig fitting appointments to find an appropriate wig, including style, fit, etc.
Women's Center Lobby Volunteers
provide service to the patients and family members waiting to be seen in the 3rd floor Women's Center Clinic. Weekday/daytime availability.
