Volunteer Opportunities
Massage Therapy Volunteers
provide comfort hand massages to our patients and caregivers in the outpatient clinic (must be licensed and insured). The next orientation is scheduled for October 2010. Urgent need.
Volunteer Drivers
provide transportation from and to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Boeing Field for Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) patients and their primary caregivers. Volunteer Drivers use their own vehicle for arrivals and departures. Drivers are needed at various times throughout the week. The next orientation is scheduled for October 2010.
Gift Shop Volunteers
provide efficient and courteous service to Gift Shop customers and help maintain the clinic retail operation. The next orientation is scheduled for October 2010. Urgent need.
Guest Services Volunteers
provide a welcoming presence, information about Seattle, and assist patients and visitors in the SCCA Clinic. The next orientation is scheduled for October 2010.
General Oncology/Hematology Lobby Volunteers
provide service to the patients and family members waiting to be seen in the 4th floor General Oncology/Hematology clinic. The next orientation is scheduled for October 2010. Urgent need.
Child Life Volunteers
offer diversionary activities and companionship for pediatric patients and patients’ family members (ages 0-18yrs). Activities include crafts, games, storytelling, watching videos, and being a friendly face. The next orientation is scheduled for October 2010. Limited opportunities.
Physical Therapy Volunteers
assist the Physical Therapist and the department by supporting patients undergoing treatment at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. The next orientation is scheduled for October 2010. Limited opportunities.
Patient Education Volunteers
provide information and social support for oncology patients and families at SCCA. Volunteers work in the Patient and Family Resource Center and the patient education department. The next orientation is scheduled for October 2010. Limited opportunities.
Volunteer Labyrinth Host
provides a welcoming presence, information, and brief instruction to all inquirers and walkers for the bi-monthly open labyrinth walk at the SCCA. Volunteer Labyrinth Hosts are stationed in Conference Room 1006-1008 on the first floor or immediately outside the door. The next orientation is scheduled for October 2010.
Patient and Family Resource Center Volunteers
provide assistance to staff with special projects and assists patients and caregivers in the Patient and Family Resource Center. We are currently not recruiting for this role at this time.
Patient/Family Volunteers
provide practical assistance, social and emotional support for families of oncology patients who are receiving medical care at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA). They enable family members to cope with the challenges of caring for a critically ill person. Typically, volunteers assist families who are from outside of western Washington. We are currently not recruiting for this role at this time.
Volunteer Tour Guides
offer tours of in-patient units at the University of Washington Academic Medical Center and Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, and tours of recommended housing options in the Lake Union, First Hill and University areas for consultation patients and families. Volunteers are encouraged to use the Volunteer Services van, but may use their own vehicle. We are currently not recruiting for this role at this time.
