Patient Care Philosophy:
I enjoy developing long-term patient relationships and helping patients who are confronted with cancer and terminal issues. I believe we can empower women at high risk of cancer with the tools to prevent cancer and decrease their lifetime risk of cancer.

Clinical Expertise:
Dr. Swisher is particularly interested in the genetics of gynecologic cancers and provides expertise in assessing cancer risk and maximizing cancer prevention. Her laboratory is studying how ovarian cancer starts, focusing on pathways that may lead to better prevention and early detection of ovarian cancer. She is also studying mechanisms of chemoresistance in ovarian cancers and how the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes influence response to chemotherapy.
