Pediatric Oncology Training
Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is proud to offer educational opportunities in conjunction with our partner organizations.
SCCA staff members may coordinate with Alison Jones, (206) 987-3432, Clinical Educator to attend training posted on this web-site presented at Seattle Children’s.
Our goal is to provide you with world-class educational opportunities as well as more specialized instruction on pediatric or disease-specific modalities.
Please contact Clinical Education for further details on courses, registration, or information provided in the upcoming sessions. After gathering course information, please work with your department manager for approval to attend the class.
Pediatric Oncology Courses offered through Seattle Children's for SCCA Staff:
- APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Course
Two-day APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) course covering all aspects of chemotherapy and biotherapy administration and management.
March 14, 15; September 19, 20 and November 16,17, 2011.
- Advanced Pediatric Oncology Class A one-day class for RNs (open to other interested staff) with at least one year experience. Lectures given by providers/experts in oncology and transplant. Topics and are new each year and are repeated 3 times over the year.
February 14, June 13 and October 3, 2011.
- Certification of Pediatric Oncology Nursing
Volunteer study groups meet to prepare for the Certification of Pediatric Oncology Nursing exam. The groups usually gather at the beginning and mid-year to plan for the April and October exams.
Seattle Children's offers a one-day CPON review class April 4, June 7 and October 10, 2011.
Continuing ed hours offered for all classes except Beginning Oncology. Courses are offered at no charge for SCCA nurses. Outside participants may attend for a fee.
