The Patient and Family Resource Center offers a wide variety of resources for patients, their families and their caregivers.

We are located on the third floor of the SCCA clinic building.

All services and materials provided in the Resource Center are free.

The American Cancer Society Patient Navigator is located in the Resource Center. She is available to assist patients and caregivers with finding appropriate resources about health education and support. The Resource Center has information available on different types of cancers, treatments, coping with cancer, supportive care and survivorship issues.

There is information for patients, caregivers, and children. There is also information available in Spanish.

Within the Resource Center patients can find information on various activities offered throughout the month at SCCA. In addition, the Resource Center maintains a community bulletin board that has information on lectures, classes, and support groups in Seattle. Click here for the Resource Center's monthly calendar of events. 

The Resource Center is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and features:

  • A lending library with books, videos and audiotapes that are available for check out. The library includes materials that cover a wide variety of topics dealing with all aspects of the cancer journey. There are also medical textbooks available for reference only.
  • Seven computer workstations that can be used for online research. Staff can assist you in navigating cancer resources available online. 
  • Internet connections for people wishing to use their personal laptops.
  • Fax machine, copier, and printer for your use while at SCCA. Faxes can also be sent here for patients.

Guest Services SCCA Guest Services is located in the main lobby of the SCCA clinic. Volunteers can assist you by answering your questions about the Seattle area including transportation, directions, maps, lodging, shuttle services, dining, and entertainment.  

Weekly drawings are held for passes to local attractions such as the Woodland Park Zoo, Children's Museum, and the Seattle Aquarium. When available, the volunteers hold special drawings for donated tickets to special events, such as sporting events and cultural programs.

In addition to the SCCA Resource Center, the SCCA and its partners offer the following programs:


The Cancer Library for cancer patients and families, located at University of Washington Medical Center, on 8 SE. It is always open. The library has books, tapes, videos, and computers to access the Internet.

Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center Family Resource Center, (206) 987-2500, is located on the 5th floor of the hospital near the Train elevators. They provide information and support for patient families. Their extensive collection of books, pamphlets, and reference materials focuses on children's health, including materials on specific illnesses and conditions, parenting, growth and development, grief and loss, and safety. It is also a place for families to have a quiet moment away from the bedside. Unique services and facilities include parent massage, vending area with free coffee and hot beverages, computer workstations for e-mail and Internet access, laundry, and parent sleeping rooms for intensive care parents. The FRC is open daily; please call for hours.

Support Groups These groups, sponsored by SCCA Pastoral Care and Social Work, enable patients, family members, and caregivers to reflect on their personal experiences and to gain information and support from other group participants and facilitators on a variety of issues.  Click here for more information.
