Patient Navigators

Patient Navigator - Carmen Cunningham

Patient Navigator - Sara Blackmur

When you find out that you have cancer, your whole world turns upside down. Questions flood your mind about treatments, side effects, and how the disease will affect your family and everyday life.

Seattle Cancer Care Alliance has two Patient Navigator Programs to provide guidance for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers to help them navigate their experience with cancer.

  • The Women’s Center Patient Navigator, Carmen Cunningham, works exclusively with patients from the Women’s Center.
  • American Cancer Society Patient Navigator, Sara Blackmur, works in partnership with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance from the Resource Center located on the Third floor of the SCCA clinic building.

Both Patient Navigators are dedicated to directing people to the proper resources to help them handle their concerns so they can focus on getting well.

Navigational Support

Patient Navigators provide efficient help in locating resources and information

  • For practical support including childcare, transportation, and social services
  • For assisting people in finding resources to work through financial, medical, and insurance concerns including finding financial grants and support
  • For support groups, classes, and other programs for emotional guidance
  • For literature on topics like coping with cancer, what to expect during treatment, and how to deal with the side effects of treatment.

Patient Navigators are caring people who listen and help people in their time of need.
