At the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, highly trained and experienced health-care professionals will offer you the best possible care. They practice here at SCCA, at the University of Washington Medical Center, and at Children's Hospital, one of SCCA’s three partner organizations. Our melanoma specialists are among the best in the world, with access to the latest therapies and innovative treatments, such as vaccine clinical trials, gene therapy, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy.

Here are a few highlights of our doctors’ expertise:

• Dr. John Thompson, co-director of the SCCA Melanoma Clinic, leads clinical research concerning the diagnosis, staging, and prognosis of melanoma, and clinical trials of immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and/or gene therapy of melanoma.
• Dr. David Byrd, co-director of the SCCA Melanoma Clinic, was the first surgeon to bring the sentinel lymph node biopsy technique to the Northwest.
• Dr. Cassian Yee is an expert on the body's immune response to melanoma. Dr. Yee pioneered experimental treatments for melanoma using a patient's own white blood cells to fight the cancer.
• Dr. Raymond Yeung is developing melanoma treatments that use radiofrequency energy to destroy cancer cells, particularly those that have spread to internal organs.

Your multidisciplinary team doesn’t include just doctors. You will also be cared for by nurse practitioners, oncology nurse case managers, social workers, dieticians and pastors—all of whom have extensive training and expertise in working with people who have cancer.
