Linda Joy Hipps, MD

Dr. Linda Hipps is a gynecologist with the UW Department of Gynecology Oncology and part of the comprehensive care team at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. She has devoted her profession to women’s health issues such as menopause, osteoporosis, and the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal pap tests. “Many of our patients at SCCA would prefer to stay within the system, but there have been limitations as to how many people the nurse practitioners can accommodate for general gynecological services,” Dr. Hipps says. “Also there are many ‘outside’ new patients that I will be able to see to help make a diagnosis of a gyn malignancy and refer them to the specialists.”

Dr. Hipps began her career in healthcare after college doing pharmacological research at College of Physicians & Surgeons, Columbia University, NY. “I quickly realized that my skills were better suited for direct patient contact and decided to become a physician,” she says. She went on to earn her medical degree from Catholic University of Louvain in Bruxelles, Belgium and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology in 1987 at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY. Dr. Hipps went into private practice in New York with an emphasis on preventive medicine where she was recognized as a Top Doc. “I hope that I can encourage women to have their annual gyn visits, as we all know that prevention and early detection are key,” she says.

Committed to women and helping them lead active, healthy lives, Dr. Hipps enjoys an active lifestyle herself, which includes a good game of golf, skiing, and yoga.
