Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Get Information by Diagnosis
SCCA Breast Cancer Specialty Center

Breast Cancer Specialty Center

Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and its parent organizations, UW Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, have brought together a world-class team of breast cancer experts who focus exclusively on treating women with breast cancer.

Whether you see these doctors as a team in the Breast Cancer Specialty Center or individually through the Breast Cancer Program, they will offer you compassionate, individualized care as well as access to new treatments and procedures, some based on research by the same doctors who will be treating you.

If you have been newly diagnosed with breast cancer, you may choose to be seen at the Breast Cancer Specialty Center, which is part of the SCCA Women's Center.

During your first appointment at the Breast Cancer Specialty Center, you will meet with a team of breast cancer specialists that includes experts in breast cancer surgery, radiation oncology, and medical oncology.

This team will work with each other—and with you—throughout your diagnosis and treatment to determine the best treatment plan for you—one that takes into account the type of breast cancer you have, your values, beliefs, and lifestyle.

During your first visit you will meet with one or more of these doctors, depending on the type of treatment you are considering. Because our doctors conduct leading-edge breast cancer research as well as treat patients, you can be sure that you will be offered the most promising new treatments available.

In addition to doctors who are specialists in various types of breast cancer care—including surgery and medical oncology—you will have the support of registered nurses, patient care coordinators, social workers, chaplains, psychiatrists, psychologists, and more.

Once you complete your treatment, you may want to make an appointment at the Women’s Wellness Clinic, which offers wellness-focused follow-up care for women who have finished cancer treatment.
