The Seattle Times reports on the positive results of a study for metastatic breast cancer treated with a combination of two estrogen-blocking drugs. The study, co-authored by SCCA's Dr. Julie Gralow, involved nearly 700 women and marks "the first time such improvement in overall survival has been seen in trials of first-line hormonal therapy for hormone-receptive metastatic breast cancer." In the Ellensburg Daily Record last week, an inspiring story was published about Paul Goebel, an avid runner, biker, swimmer, and kayaker who thought he had winter asthma but turned out to have stage IV lung cancer.
