The Seattle Department of Transportation says the next four confirmed weekend closures of the I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer St. as part of the Mercer Corridor Project will occur the following weekends in July and August beginning on Fridays at 11 p.m. and ending on Mondays at 5 a.m: July 6 - 9, July 13 – 16, August 10 – 13, and August 24 -27. Recently, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommended against PSA-based screening for prostate cancer. SCCA's Daniel Lin, MD, disagrees with the Task Force's recommendation, and says that PSA screening, while not perfect, has its place. Dr. Lin was recently interviewed about PSA screening on Patient Power. Watch the interview here.

In an op-ed in The Wenatchee World, SCCA patient Karen Allen speaks out about the importance of government-funded research in the battle against cancer. Allen, who is in a clinical trial here at SCCA, was diagnosed with follicular non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2008.

Qualis Health presented Quality Awards of Excellence at the 2012 Northwest Patient Safety Conference at the Hilton Seattle Airport & Conference Center. SCCA won an Innovation award for Evaluating the Effectiveness of an Infection Control for Construction, Remodel and Maintenance Policy in an Ambulatory Oncology Setting.
