Thomas Kummet, MD

"Cancer patients display a particular courage and demonstrate an understanding of what is truly important in life," says Dr. Thomas Kummet, whose entry into the world of cancer treatment evolved out of an earlier career in cancer prevention research. "It is a privilege to be involved in their care."

Dr. Kummet is a medical oncologist and the medical director of Medical Oncology at Olympic Medical Cancer Center. He received his medical education from the University of Minnesota and performed his internship and residency training at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona followed by Fellowship training at the University of Arizona. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

"I find the biggest challenge in medical oncology is determining what the best course of treatment is that will provide both the maximum quantity of life and quality of life," Kummet says. "My intention is to treat all of my patients as if they were a member of my immediate family."

When he isn't working, Dr. Kummet says his family truly enjoys exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
