Rena Zimmerman, MD

Dr. Rena Zimmerman has practiced radiation oncology for 20 years. She is board-certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology. She is also a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology. She recently completed the Program in Integrative Medicine from the University of Arizona Tucson. She attended medical school at Northeastern Ohio University’s College of Medicine and completed her residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Dr. Zimmerman is passionate about radiation oncology. “Radiation therapy is an extremely satisfying area of medicine,” she says. “Our ability to treat patients has improved dramatically because of technological advances, such as computing. We can better provide radiation cancer treatment due to those advances, while limiting damage to surrounding healthy tissue, and I find that very encouraging.”

On Radiation Oncology

"Radiation therapy is an extremely satisfying area of medicine," she says. "Our ability to treat patients has improved dramatically because of the technological advances, particularly in computing. We are better able to treat the tumor, while limiting damage to surrounding tissues.

Dr. Zimmerman believes her patients are best treated by offering state-of-the-art radiation therapy combined with support of the mind, body, and spirit. When she isn't working, she enjoys knitting, gardening, yoga, and eating. Her husband Jerome and she have a daughter, Lauren, and a Jack Russell terrier named Badger.
