Seattle Swim Across America
Lake Washington Open Water Swim - September 10, 2016
Swim Across America, Inc. (SAA), is dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming-related events. In Seattle, SAA community volunteers host an annual open-water swim in Lake Washington that benefits SCCA. To date, Swim Across America contributed over $1,000,000 for clinical research at SCCA. This year you can participate as a swimmer, volunteer or fundraiser in the Lake Washington Open Water Swim.
SCCA/Starbucks Cycling Team
SCCA/Starbucks Cycling is an amateur race team of men and women who compete at local, regional, national and international events. The team comprises doctors, engineers, marketing professionals, and everything in between. For the past three years, the team has hosted a cyclocross event that raises money for SCCA.
Cierra Sisters 20th Anniversary Gala - April 9, 2016
Cierra Sisters, an African-American breast cancer survivor and support organization, is celebrating 20 years of serving the community and providing a strong support network for African-Americans who have been touched by cancer. They are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a black-tie gala at the Columbia Tower, which will include dinner, entertainment and a silent auction.
Wellness: It's a Family Affair
SCCA Co-Hosted Family Wellness Fair - April 16, 2016
In partnership with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Parks & Recreation and Cierra Sisters, SCCA is hosting a second annual health and wellness event for the whole family in Rainier Beach. The event, Wellness: It's a Family Affair, will feature mammograms, HIV screenings, blood pressure screenings and other services and activities. The Fred Hutch Health Disparities Research Center is designed to enhance collaboration with and among Fred Hutch and SCCA programs and create a forum that enables health disparities' researchers to work together.
Northwest Melanoma Symposium

The Northwest Melanoma Symposium: Science to Survivorship is co-hosted by the Melanoma Research Foundation and SCCA. The annual symposium includes engaging presentations and discussions on melanoma by SCCA oncologists and will include a keynote speaker from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center who will discuss immunotherapy updates for melanoma. The day-long program is open to the public and melanoma patients, caregivers and families are encouraged to attend. It will place on the Fred Hutch campus in the Pelton Auditorium. Wings of Karen
5K Bra Dash - May 22, 2016
The mission of this community based organization is to fund promising breast cancer research in the Pacific Northwest. In the spirit of Karen Denmark, Wings of Karen is a resource that shows the strength, courage and beauty of those fighting back at cancer. Wings of Karen is proud to support the breast cancer research and clinical program of Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, a powerful collaboration between UW Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and other life-saving institutions across the Pacific Northwest.
Northwest Folklife Festival - May 27-30, 2016
The 2016 Northwest Folklife Festival will be presented by SCCA, a first-time partnership that aims to educate and collaborate through arts and culture. The thematic focus this year is "The Power of the Human Voice through Song" and will include performances ranging from doo-wop, gospel, choral, throat singing and more.
Moving Beyond Cancer to Wellness

This conference is designed to provide general education on a variety of the late- and long-term effects faced by cancer survivors after treatment is completed. Race for the Cure - June 5, 2016
The Komen Puget Sound Race for the Cure first began in 1984 to unite the breast cancer community, celebrate survivors, raise money for breast cancer research and honor those who lost their lives to the disease. Seventy-five percent of the net funds raised through the race go towards local programs. Runners and walkers can participate individually or form teams.
Taste for Life - June 16, 2016
BloodworksNW collects, tests and distributes lifesaving blood to nearly 90 hospitals in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. The organization collects about 900 units of blood daily. Its annual Taste for Life event will feature a variety of wine, beer and spirits tastings at the Seattle Armory Lofts.
Seattle Pride Parade - June 26, 2016
SCCA will be featured in the Seattle Pride Parade, an event that works to celebrate and advocate for the LGBTQ population. The 2016 theme is "The Future of Pride" with emphasis on honoring those who will continue to promote the LGBTQ community in the future. The annual parade takes place in downtown Seattle.

Every year, sailors and supporters come together for the Pink Boat Regatta dressed in their best pink outfits to be on the water together. This sailing event raises money for the Breast Cancer Research Fund.
