Genetic Counselors

Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) Genetic Counseling Service providers are all licensed, board-certified genetic counselors.

Mercy Laurino, MS, CGC, PhD

Mercy Laurino is a certified genetic counselor. She manages SCCA’s Breast and Ovarian Cancer Prevention Program, Gastrointestinal Cancer Prevention Program, Lung Cancer and Early Detection Program, and the Genetic Counseling services. She is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and licensed by the Washington State Department of Health.

Britta Sjoding, MS, CGC

Britta Sjoding is a certified genetic counselor and a co-coordinator of SCCA’s Breast and Ovarian Cancer Prevention Program and Gastrointestinal Cancer Prevention Program clinics. Counseling patients regarding hereditary cancer syndromes since 2009, she is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and licensed by the Washington State Department of Health.

Laura Amendola, MS, CGC

Laura Amendola provides genetic counseling to patients referred to the clinic for a variety of conditions including inherited cancer syndromes and neurogenetic conditions. Laura worked as a genetic counselor in adult, pediatric, and prenatal genetics in central Texas, and has a special interest in studying the incorporation of new genetic technology in the clinic. She is certified in genetic counseling by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and licensed by the Washington State Department of Health.

Robin Bennett, MS, CGC

Robin Bennett is the senior genetic counselor and co-director for the University of Washington (UW) Medical Genetics Clinic. She is also a clinical associate professor in the Division of Medical Genetics in the UW Department of Medicine. She is certified in genetic counseling by the American Board of Medical Genetics and the American Board of Genetic Counseling and licensed by the Washington State Department of Health.

Lorraine Naylor, MS, CGC

Lorraine Naylor provides counseling to patients referred for a variety of inherited conditions. She has a special interest in cancer genetics, with a focus on gastrointestinal malignancies. She is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and licensed by the Washington State Department of Health.

Lauren Brown, MS, CGC

Lauren Brown provides counseling for a variety of inherited conditions. She has a special interest in cancer genetics, with a focus on helping patients understand how family history and/or genetic test results impact personal risks for disease. Lauren is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and licensed by the Washington State Department of Health.
