On the Gastrointestinal Diet 1, all foods must be selected and prepared according to the Diet Guidelines for Immunosuppressed Patients.
Foods to Try First

- Kool-Aid or Tang (half-strength)
- Cranberry drinks (half-strength)

- Malt-o-Meal
Cold cereals (½ cup)
- Puffed rice
- Rice Krispies
- Cheerios

Starches (allowed with 1 teaspoon margarine)
- White bread, plain bagel or English muffin (1 slice)
- Pasta: macaroni, egg noodles or plain spaghetti (½ cup)
- Potato (no skin), baked or mashed (½ medium or ½ cup)

- Saltines (2)
- Pretzels (1 ounce)
- White dinner roll (1)
Fruits (½ cup)
- Applesauce, plain
- Banana (½)
- Peaches, canned in juice or light syrup

- Resource Fruit Beverage (½ cup)
- Pediasure (½ cup)
- Ensure, Boost High Protein (½ cup)

- Sandwiches made with low-fat mayonnaise on white bread: egg salad, tuna salad, chicken, turkey or lean ham (½ sandwich)
