Renata R. Urban, MD

Dr. Urban specializes in gynecologic oncology, which includes ovarian, uterine, cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancer, and gestational trophoblastic disease.

Patient Care Philosophy:

I believe that each patient should be treated with honesty, compassion, and patience. The diagnosis and treatment of cancer is an extremely challenging time for patients, as well as their friends and family. Each patient is an individual, not just a disease, and should be treated as such.

Dr. Urban's Story

As a young woman, Dr. Renata Urban wanted to work in a field that was intellectually dynamic as well as allowed for the development of interpersonal relationships. “Being a physician allows for constant learning,” Urban says. “Not only from my peers and colleagues, but also from my patients.”

Caring for patients with gynecologic malignancies requires a diverse knowledge of medicine, surgery, and oncology. In addition, Urban says, “Caring for cancer patients requires a physician to help their patients through challenging personal times, and I feel it is a privilege to do this.”

Dr. Urban has a particular interest in the perioperative care of patients with gynecologic cancers, as well as how to improve patient care. Within her lifetime, she hopes to see the individualization of the diagnosis and treatment of cancers, allowing for more diverse and effective therapeutic measures.

Outside of work, Dr. Urban enjoys running, cooking, reading and exploring her home in the Pacific Northwest.
