Patient Care Philosophy:

Dr. Damman's Story

Christopher Damman, MD, became a doctor in order to “serve, connect, think scientifically, and think creatively all in one job.” To him, “it is a privilege to help care for individuals facing the unique physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges afforded by the diagnosis of cancer. It is equally fulfilling to be part of a team that is very actively involved in finding new ways of treating the various types of cancer.”

In his research, Dr. Damman investigates the role that gastrointestinal bacteria play in inflammatory bowel disease and the development of colorectal cancer. “I am also currently evaluating the potential therapeutic role of fecal microbota transplantation in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease,” he said.

Looking to the future, Dr. Damman believes an imbalance in the colonic bacteria is likely to play an important role in inflammatory bowel disease and the development of colorectal cancer. His hope is to help develop bacterial-based diagnostics and treatments that have the power to predict and prevent disease.

Outside of work, Dr. Damman likes to spend his time running, cooking, eating, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
