Dr. Yeung's Story

Dr. Cecilia Yeung became a doctor simply because she wanted to help people.

“Having lost loved ones to cancer myself, I find that cancer patients are inspirational through their profound mental strength and admirable will to live,” she says.

Yeung’s research interests involve using whole genome interrogation methods to look at hematopoietic malignancies in order to tease out genes which may impact prognosis and be potential targets for therapy.

“In my lifetime, I hope that molecular-based therapies will become sophisticated enough so that we can effectively target the initial lesion, leading to better overall survival and less relapses,” she says.

Outside of work, Yeung enjoys spending time with her daughter, making functional pieces of pottery, and playing badminton.
