Although thyroid cancer is usually slow growing and amenable to the treatments detailed above, some thyroid cancers can be more aggressive—growing quickly and not responding to standard therapy. Aggressive thyroid cancers can require additional treatment modalities such as external beam radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
