Patient Support
SCCA has abundant resources to answer questions that you and your family may have. We have psychiatrists and psychologists, social workers, nutritionists, and pastoral services available. You never have to feel that you are going through this experience alone.
Patient and Family Resource Center
SCCA welcomes families to the third floor of the SCCA clinic building. Here you’ll find the Patient and Family Resource Center, which provides access to information on different types of cancers, treatment, support, and much more. Books, videos, computer workstations, and audiotapes are available as well as a community bulletin board showing current activities and support groups in the Seattle area.
Support for Spouses and Partners of Prostate, Testicular, or Bladder Cancer Patients
Sylvie Aubin, PhD, clinical psychologist, leads a support group for the spouses and significant others of men diagnosed with prostate, testicular, or bladder cancer. This group meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 1 to 2 pm on the 3rd floor of the SCCA, Room G3-100. For more information, contact Dr. Aubin at saubin@u.washington.edu.
Survivorship Program
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Survivorship Program
The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is a member of the LIVESTRONG™ Survivorship Center of Excellence Network established by Lance Armstrong, an advanced stage testicular cancer survivor and winner of 7 Tour de France races.
During his treatment for metastatic testicular cancer, Lance Armstrong created the Lance Armstrong Foundation to raise awareness and funds in the fight against cancer. His inner drive and competitive spirit infuse the LIVESTRONG™ foundation with positive energy. He advocates for cancer patients all over the world.
While he was an internationally known cycling champion before being diagnosed with cancer, Lance Armstrong achieved his most famous cycling victories after treatment. He took on testicular cancer with the same competitive attitude that led him to so many cycling victories and he beat the disease. With his foundation’s many resources he helps other people living with cancer to live strong and to beat their disease.
