Our Expertise

Expert Physicians

The pediatric hematologists at Seattle Children's, an SCCA parent organization, have advanced training in diagnosing and treating childhood blood disorders. Their specialized education and experience makes a difference for children and teens facing this disease. They understand the ways it starts and that it acts differently in children than in adults. They also create treatment plans based on the established knowledge as well as the very latest research into what’s most effective and safest specifically in children and teens.

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Hutchinson Center), an SCCA parent organization, is taking the lead on several fronts in treating autoimmune diseases, and has developed clinical trials using bone marrow (hematopoietic stem-cell) transplantation for treating severe autoimmune diseases.

If your child or teenager needs a bone marrow transplant, Seattle Children's and SCCA are the best places to receive this life-saving treatment. The Hutchinson Center pioneered the use of bone-marrow transplants over 40 years ago as a treatment for leukemia. Since then tens of thousands of patients have come from around the world to receive bone marrow transplants at SCCA for cancer and autoimmune diseases.

The Hutchinson Center Transplant Program at SCCA was ranked first in outcomes in a four-year study by the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) that measured one-year survival rates of patients among 119 transplant centers in the United States.
