For almost 100 years, Seattle Children’s, a Seattle Cancer Care Alliance parent organization, has been treating only children. Our staff is trained in a specific area of healthcare, such as hematology, and also in meeting unique needs of children.
Your child’s team is made up of professionals from many disciplines, including pediatric hematologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, dietitians, child life therapists, pharmacists, chaplains, and many others.
K. Scott Baker, MD, MS
Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation
Dr. Baker is the director of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Survivorship Program, and also is director of the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant program. He works with pediatric bone marrow transplantation patients at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and at Seattle Children’s Hospital, and also leads the pediatric survivorship program at Seattle Children's Hospital.

Dr. Bender's clinical expertise is in the biology and pathology of pediatric cancers, sickle cell disease, and hemoglobinopathies.

Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation
Dr. Burroughs specializes in bone marrow transplantation for the treatment of patients with childhood cancers and nonmalignant disorders. In particular, she has an interest in patients with primary immunodeficiency disorders, hemoglobinopathies, inborn errors of metabolism, and marrow failure syndromes.

Hematology Oncology
Dr. Carpenter is a pediatric hematology oncologist. He treats children with autoimmune diseases, leukemia, and lymphoma. Additionally, he is part of the Long Term Follow-up team for adult services.
