Breast Health Clinic
If you are concerned about a breast lump, have another symptom (like nipple discharge or pain), or have an abnormal mammogram, make an appointment to see one of our providers at the Breast Health Clinic at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA).
We will provide a thorough and concise evaluation of your breast abnormalities and develop an individual screening plan for you if you are at higher-than-average risk for breast cancer. This screening plan will minimize the number of diagnostic surgical procedures you will undergo and carefully watch for any signs of breast cancer.
The clinic is staffed by breast surgeons, internists, and a nurse practitioner with special expertise in breast disease.
When you visit the Breast Health Clinic, you can expect:
- A discussion of pertinent breast imaging tests such as mammography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- A clinical breast exam by an experienced clinician
- Minor procedures, such as needle sampling or biopsy, when indicated to evaluate abnormal findings
- Pre- and post-operative care, if you have had breast surgery
- Appropriate follow-up care as directed by your doctor
- Recommendations for a comprehensive, individualized screening program
- A referral, if appropriate, for genetic screening
Our goal is to provide state-of-the-art, comprehensive breast health services, including clinical evaluation, diagnostic work-up, surgical evaluation, minimally invasive therapy, and clinical follow-up, as well as to serve as a teaching and research resource.
You will receive recommendations for a comprehensive, personalized screening program to increase the likelihood of detecting any cancer early, when there is the best chance for a cure.
If the results of your evaluation show cancer, you could be referred to the Breast Cancer Specialty Center at SCCA or to one of our breast medical oncologists for further evaluation and to discuss your treatment options.
The Breast Health Clinic is part of the Women’s Center on the third floor of the SCCA building.
