Complementary and Alternative TherapiesWhile undergoing treatment for cancer, you may read or hear about other therapies that sound tempting. While some may make you feel better, others may cause harm.
Complementary treatments usually consist of ways to help you relax and to feel better such as meditation, aromatherapy, breathing skills, and exercises. You may find some of these methods beneficial alongside your ongoing cancer treatment.
Alternative treatments are treatments used instead of traditional methods. Sometimes they are advertised as “all natural” and they promise a cure for cancer. These treatments may delay or compromise the effects of the treatment regimen designed by your team. Some alternative treatments may even be fatal.
Always consult your doctor before trying anything that might interfere with your prescribed treatment.
