Great Falls Clinic Affiliates with SCCA

PRESS RELEASE: Great Falls Clinic and Clinic Cancer Care join with SCCA

November 28, 2006 – The Great Falls Clinic and Clinic Cancer Care will bring the resources of three internationally renowned cancer care institutions to enhance oncology services in their community and region with a new affiliation with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA).

SCCA unites Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington Medicine and Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center to offer a variety of treatment options, designed from the latest research for malignant and non-malignant diseases.

Clinic Cancer Care is the only cancer center in Montana selected to join the alliance’s network of health care organizations aimed at improving interventions and advancing the standard of cancer care.

“I am very excited about our joint efforts and believe the affiliation will be mutually beneficial to the organizations and to the patients of the area,” said Benjamin E. Greer, MD, gynecological oncologist and professor of Obstetrics and Oncology at the University of Washington. Dr. Greer is also the Medical Director of the SCCA Network.

The SCCA’s program to affiliate with community-based oncology programs recognizes the value in developing partnerships with local physicians to ultimately benefit patient care.

“Our longstanding relationship with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington Medicine and Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center has evolved into a worthwhile collaboration that will enhance patient care for all cancer survivors in our community and region,” remarked Dr. Thomas Warr, Medical Oncologist at Clinic Cancer Care. “I am enthusiastic about this new opportunity to add the premier cancer program resources of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to our team. It’s a major step forward in helping us to treat our cancer patients.”

Clinic Cancer Care will immediately benefit from the new partnership by accessing:

  • The latest clinical research protocols
  • Current cancer care treatment guidelines
  • Rapid second-opinion service
  • Support in the development and use of research-based treatments at community sites
  • Continuing medical education and training for community physicians
  • Current publications and research overviews of phase I, II, and III clinical trials
